Carole Mortimer ist nicht das was ich eine Bestsellerschriftstellerin nennen würde, und wenn man ihre Werke liest und auch genießen will sollte man schon den ein oder anderen Abstrich in seinen Erwartungen machen, und wird dafür gewöhnlicher Weise mit kurzweiliger, nicht übermäßig intelligenter aber humorvoller Literatur und ganz viel steamy action belohnt.Üblicherweise . . . aber nicht hier.Diese Geschichte ist so unglaublich nichtssagend und öde . . . ich finde wirklich keine Worte für diesen Schund.Innerhalb der 11 Kapitel liest man 9 Kapitel lang, wie die Heldin den zunächst etwas unwilligen aber nicht uninteressierten Helden vollkommen uninspieriert und hölzern ins Bett zerren will, und anschließend 2 Kapitel voller "unerwarteter" Wendungen ohne den geringsten Spannungsaufbau, in denen dem Villain ein knappes halbes! Kapitel gegönnt, wird in dem man Auftauchen muss, seinen (von anfang an zum scheitern verurteilten) - ich nenne es großzügiger Weise mal- Plan verrät und erwartungsgemäßig damit scheitert, und dann endet die Geschichte.Das lässt mich einfach nur ungläubig den Kopf schütteln. Übertrifft die unterirdisch schlechte zweite Geschichte um längen.
Wonderful short story of a wrong being righted and despite the assumed inherited status of Gray, finding true love. Overall quality of writing was good. Steamy intimacy scenes were in Accord to the time period. No cheating or cliffhanger s. The happy ever after felt rushed which was disappointing. This story, although very good, felt like a novella. It wasn't as in depth or meaty as the others in the series. I really like Ms. Mortimer's story telling and can't wait to see what is next.

The story line with the three friends who attended the school. You will enjoy this final book of the series
Ms Mortimer's hot historicals usually require a large dose of suspended disbelief, but this one was just one ridiculous notion or situation after another. I almost didnt even finish reading it as I felt it "jumped the shark" in the very first chapter. The heat in the love scenes was smoking as usual, but there were practically no other scenes beside that where you might have any inkling of why or how these two fell in love. Lastly, the resolution/ending was tidily wrapped up in just a page or two. Not at all her best work. Would have received even fewer stars if the it weren't for the steamy bits.
